Jammu: To ensure equitable access & availability of all Life saving and critical care Covid management drugs during these ” tough & challenging times”, the Officers of Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO), J&K under the direct supervision of Assistant Drugs Controller, Jammu conducted a special drive wherein surprise & supervisory checks of Retail Pharmacies/Wholesale Outlets mostly situated near Covid Designated Hospitals & other tertiary care institutes viz Bakshi Nagar, Shalamar, Gandhi Nagar , Channi, Talab Tillo, R.S Pura , Akhnoor were carried out
During the said drive, inspections of outlets which deal in Medical Devices viz Infra Red Thermometers, Digital Thermometers, Pulse Oxymeters, Medical gas cylinder (Portable), Medical / Surgical masks, Respirator masks( N95 & FFP2), Face shields (Single use), Protective goggles, Surgical Gloves, High Flow Masks, Nasal Canule (Pronges ) were also carried out and it was observed that such products are abundantly availabl

JAMMU, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir today recorded single-day highest 60 Corona deaths and 4788 fresh cases. Jammu region accounted for 42 fatalities in a day and 1529 cases.
Among the dead were senior KAS officer and Special Secretary Finance Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani (who tested negative for the virus just two days before his death after remaining positive for over a fortnight), brother of former Minister, who too had died of pathogen, a 17-year-old girl from Mirpur Kathua and a 26-year-old youth of Rehari. Third woman member of a family from Jhangar Nowshera in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus during last two days.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected Facilitation/ Registration Counter established by Department of Agriculture and FW at the Mandi site.
Interacting with Farmers and Contractor, the DC passed on spot instructions to the authorities for making hassle free procurement and arrangements along with all logistic support. The instructions were also issued for the proper monitoring of weighing machines to avoid any error.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to liaise with Metrology Department and conduct surprise monitoring of weighing Machines. He also stressed on uniformity in fixation of cleaning rates at the procurement centres across the district.
Pertinently, for the smooth procurement of the Wheat produce, 7 Procurement Mandies have been opened in the district at Channi, Bhajwal, Nagri, Kundechak, Palli, Marheen and Padyari, where Department of Agriculture and FW has deputed sufficient staff to facilitate farming community.

The committees were constituted at an emergency meeting chaired by the State Congress Committee president G. A. Mir in Jammu to review the prevailing situation. The Congress’s Jammu and Kashmir unit on Tuesday announced setting up of two separate committees to monitor the COVID-19 situation in the Union Territory and report directly to the party high command on a daily basis, a party spokesperson said.
